I was born in Doncaster over forty years ago...
I first got hold of a camera when I was 12, cheekily stealing my parents! Because of this, my very own first camera, a Canon SureShot 70 Zoom, was a present for my 15th birthday. This film camera triggered my interest in wildlife and landscape photography (I remember spending hours in Peasholm Park, Scarborough, trying to capture the perfect photo of a robin and a squirrel together!).
My transition to digital photography came through another present: an Olympus Camedia C-50 Zoom. This camera allowed me to continue exploring different styles of photography. Soon after, I bought my first DSLR, a Sony Alpha 300. After spending a couple of years learning how it worked (whilst also studying hard for my Biological Sciences Degree, Masters and Doctorate!), I purchased a full frame Sony Alpha 850, allowing me to further improve the quality of my photography.
My most recent investment is a Sony Alpha 77, allowing me faster shooting speeds, more megapixels to play with and video recording.
If there's one thing I've learned since buying the first DSLR, it's that photography is never ending... Not only from an equipment point of view (as I keep spending more and more money on better gear!), but as a whole learning process. There's always different, new situations, varying people and changing environments.
